It's raining, it's pouring...it's a lesson I learned in the rain today

It's been raining all week in South Carolina and there was a time I would just want to stay inside and curl up with a book. Instead, I took customer packages to the Post Office today. I realized owning a small business has changed me because my first thought was not "Ugh, I'm going to have to get out in the rain to drop these off" but was instead "Rain, yes! That means there will be better parking available."

While I'd love to say I always have a positive mindset that's just not true. However, I've come to recognize the opportunity that arises when you're willing to do the things other people won't do in the conditions that currently exist. Today, it was drop off packages in the rain. Tomorrow, who knows? What I do know is that my life is always better in the long term when I'm willing to do the things I don't want to do at the time I'm supposed to do them instead of putting it off. 

As you think about something you need to do that you're tempted to avoid I wonder what the unexpected positive side will be? Regardless, consider just doing the thing and know your life will be better as a result.
